Bitcoin paywall provider BitWall is partnering with the Chicago Sun-Instances to conduct a 24-hour bitcoin paywall test. The experiment, the 1st of its kind for a major US publication, will come about on the Sun-Instances site on 1st February.

Readers accessing articles in the course of this time will see an overlay “wall” just before accessing an article. They will be offered the option to pay to see the article with bitcoin, or to tweet the story for access.

The Sun-Times is the ninth-biggest newspaper in the United States. Its parent firm, Wrapports, owns a number of other news outlets, including seven Chicago suburban papers and 30 other media properties. Nic Meliones, the CEO of San Francisco-primarily based BitWall, mentioned in a statement:
